09.11 Woman of 1900

In times of yore, when seas were wide, And ladies’ legs were stetson-wide, A prude woman of nineteen hundred, Embarked on a voyage, her heart aflutter.

With bonnet perched and corset tight, She stepped aboard, a curious sight, Her starched skirts billowing in the breeze, As the ship set sail, her heart at ease.

The salty air, the ocean’s sway, A world away from her sheltered stay, The prude woman, with gentle grace, Embraced the sea, its vast embrace.

She watched the dolphins leap and play, The sun-kissed waves, they seemed to say, “Let go your fears, your inhibitions, Embrace the freedom, the sea’s traditions.”

With newfound courage, she climbed the mast, The wind in her hair, her spirit amassed, The salty spray upon her face, A liberating, refreshing chase.

She danced upon the deck with glee, Her laughter echoing, wild and free, The prude woman, once so restrained, By the sea’s enchantment, she was unchained.

As twilight fell, and stars emerged, The ship sailed on, its course unperturbed, The prude woman, beneath the moon’s soft glow, Found peace within, a newfound flow.

The sea, it had touched her very soul, Awakened passions she couldn’t control, The prude woman, once so prim and proper, Had found herself, a newfound chapter.

So let us raise a glass to her, The prude woman, who dared to stir, Her heart transformed, her spirit soared, By the sea’s embrace, she was restored.
